databot™ and Agastya International Foundation Announce Collaboration
1,000 Agastya Students to Experience databot™ Physics in Q1, 2022
Boise, Idaho, USA (February 4, 2022) — aRbotics LLC (dba databot™), a Boise, Idaho Educational Technology (EdTech) company today announced a collaboration with the Agastya International Foundation, a transformative educational organization supporting underserved students and teachers throughout India. The collaboration involves the dissemination of sensor-based learning activities developed by databot™ that will engage Agastya students in scientific concepts through data visualization.
databot™ creates sensor technology and brilliant activities that empower students everywhere to think deeply, explore with passion, and solve our planetary scale challenges using real, live, scientific data. The four areas of curricular focus for the company are 1) Data Science, Data Literacy, and Critical Thinking; 2) STEAM education including coding, engineering design challenges, and technology; 3) Environmental science and climate awareness; and 4) Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).
Robert Grover, databot™ CEO, said of the partnership, “This is an incredible opportunity for databot™ to work with a world-class, passionate, mission-driven organization that will facilitate the delivery of our learning vision to students throughout India. We are honored to be working with Agastya International Foundation.”
The initial pilot project for the collaboration is to reach 1,000 Agastya students by March 31st with sensor based activities that introduce a core physics concept: acceleration. This curriculum module, Ninja Physics, introduces students to acceleration, acceleration due to gravity, and 3D cartesian coordinates through a series of challenges in which students attempt to balance perfectly or move with no acceleration, all scored through visualizing accelerometer data on a smart device. The physical interaction with sensor data provides a rich, engaging science experience that is highly effective at conveying scientific concepts. Further, as most students throughout India continue to be learning through remote technology due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this is a hands-on solution that will bring some much-needed excitement to students in lockdown.
Dr. Sridhar Jagannathan, Global Leader for Innovation and Partnerships said, “At Agastya, we encourage our children to understand the world around them. Our partnership with databot™ allows us to bring an understanding of the world directly into the hands of the children through the magic of data. With databot™ technologies, Agastya children are able to understand the physics of gravity and acceleration, light, sound and much more.”
The initial pilot project has already commenced and Agastya Master Teachers are working with databot™ personnel to master the activities before they begin working with students in the coming weeks.
