We’re excited to continue our partnership with Virginia Tech’s K-12 Initiatives Program, offering two dynamic professional development sessions this October at the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus in Alexandria. These immersive, in-person workshops are designed to help educators bring science, data, and technology to life in the classroom—with full alignment to Virginia SOL and NGSS standards.
Whether you’re working with upper elementary and middle school students or teaching high school science, these Virginia Tech databot training sessions offer hands-on learning with sensor technology, AI, robotics, and data-driven investigations using databot™.
Integrating databots and AI in the Classroom
Grades 3-8
Wednesday, October 23, 2025 |
9 AM – 3 PM
Discover how to integrate AI and robotics into your science classroom through machine learning activities that are both accessible and exciting. You’ll work with Teachable Machine curriculum to train a computer to recognize images, sounds, and body poses—while reinforcing key concepts like data collection, analysis, and the scientific method.
Educators will:
- Build a foundation in machine learning and AI literacy
- Explore real-world STEM applications with databot
- Collaborate with peers and Virginia Tech K-12 experts
databot for High School Science
Grades 9-12
Thursday, October 24, 2025 |
9 AM – 3 PM
In this hands-on session, educators will explore how to use databot’s sensor suite to investigate limiting reagents, measure energy transfer, and dive into magnetic fields and forces. The curriculum is fully NGSS and VA SOL-aligned and designed to integrate easily into existing classroom lessons, STEM clubs, or enrichment programs.
Participants will:
- Analyze chemical reactions and heat-producing processes
- Conduct investigations into magnetic fields and energy
- Gain confidence using databot in real-world experiments
